My new best friend is a 225ml fuel/oil/fluid suckerator. Excellent for those annoying tanks that won’t let you pour the last 100mls of fuel out.

It’s especially good for steel tanks when you need to clean them thoroughly.

It will leave a tablespoon or two of fluid in the tank, but a rinse with acetone and some careful low temperature drying (or an air pump for a fish tank) gets the tank thoroughly dry.

Mine is generic brand from an auto shop for sumps, brake fluid, etc.

A very usefull piece of kit. My own set-up works very well and there's never more than a teaspoonful (that I can see) of liquid left in the tank. I bought the suck / blow pump well over 10 years ago and used it many times. Originally with two leather washers - one facing backwards to suck, the other, now long since gone, facing forwards to blow. Tired of forever oiling the leather pump cup, I used an old jar as a remote vacuum chamber. No more oiling the leather.
