Kores (India) is a branch of a stationary supplier W. KORESKA. Originally a European company with operations in India it was incorporated in 1936 but taken over in 1956 by Mr Krishnalal Thirani who expanded into various other fields and it may well be that they made a pressure lamp. There is no evidence for this other than the contol wheel on this lantern but as that is a pretty specific part we have to assume there is a lamp out here yet to be discovered. ::Neil::

The control wheel has the same shape like on the Daylite / Picostar lamps, of course except for the inscription.

I have seen a couple of 250 Glory lamps with "Glory" marked on the handle. Never Kores :?

It is always worth dismantling lanterns from India or Pakistan.I have two here that betwen them have five different brand names on the various parts. This happens because there are a lot of small operators out here and when they fettle a lamp it gets the parts to hand which may not match the originals. This is not the forst time I have discovered a new brand just from an odd part fitted to the "Wrong" lamnp. ::Neil::

The Kores-lamp is a petromax-verymuchlike lamp which is normally plated chrome and marked on the fount with big "Kores" letters. It is common in Tyrkey and Pakistan.

Is it now? I had not heard of them until this post so not many have escaped the area. An image or two with details of the markings might be good because I would like to know more. ::Neil::
