G-day all, here is my example of this lantern, it's been well used, but it still works really well.

I do not have a date of manufacture for it, perhaps someone else will? Jeff.

    Hi Jeff,

There was something like 25 different versions of the keropet. All basically looking the same.

Looking at yours it has the tripod [ Burner Frame ]riveted to the base plate and I think I can see that the burner cap screws into the tripod.

Pretty much the last of the variations and would date circa 70's - 80's

Colin, do you have any idea when they actually stopped production of the KeroPet?

This lantern doesn't have the last version of the filler cap (no guarantee as they're interchangeable) and I thought the hoods were only black at the end.

I think they shut down halfway through the Eighties. Handi Works was De registered in 1999. As you have pointed out about the Hood this Lantern would be closer to the 70's

It's a bright lantern, but it would be better if the glass did not have a chunk out of it, Jeff.

They're a strange size glass on these lanterns. Has anyone found a modern replacement that fits?

    Hi Nils,
I found a Petromax replacement glass wich is a little bit smaller and shortener as an original Schott/petromax 500 glass. It´s not an original, but better than nothing ;)

Yes, I've a couple of Handi lanterns, one of which I use from time to time and I really like it - must be easily the fastest priming lantern in my collection. The reason I don't use it more is because of the glass, which is unique.

Anybody heard anything from/of Handi-Albert (Albert White) lately? It was he who got me my Handi, fettled it and sent it over here - all for a very reasonable sum indeed...

Hello David, I have finally obtained a complete Handi glass.

Albert and I have exchanged a few e-mails within the last fortnight, Jeff.

Well done with the glass, Jeff - always difficult to find that one.

I'm also glad to hear about Albert. Any reason for him becoming scarce? He just seemed to drop out of the scene...

Hello David, I'm not certain, but he does answer e-mails, Jeff.

Hi Leo, is the glass available from any shop? Like David, I don't use my Handis much for fear of breaking a glass.

I had also been wondering about Albert. Good to hear he's still around.

    Hi Nils,
I got the glass from a friend, he bought it from Miltec.de.
    The diameter is:10,7mm
    high:11,4mm
it`s an unmarked heat resistant glass.

Not any more as he hasn't the internet.

I managed to secure his phone number for Nils and I believe Nils is going to give him a call whilst he is in Australia over the next month.
