I have a few Aladdin competitor lamps and have always been impressed with the quality of them.

I have been looking at them at the end of the shelves for a while, thinking I should get one of those going.
    Tonight I did.

This is a C E Wirth, 1912 patent Beacon sold by or through Home Supply Company and made by Plume and Atwood, 1912 to 1924.

The mantle it takes is a KoneKap mantle and is the same that goes on Aladdins models 3 - 11.

After lighting this lamp I looked up how old the mantle is.

    Dated from 1936 - 1938.
    82 to 84 years old.
I wish I did not look it up.

Very nice Anthony. Is that an Aladdin font? Was it intended to use Aladdin mantles or is that just a 'coincidence'?

I have a couple of the European ones (Kronos and Aida). There are more around that you might think at first.

    @Anthony

You might even be forgiven for showing a wick lamp with that one. ;)

    Cheers

The beacon burners were included in a lot of Aladdin advertising.
The patent for the Aladdin Konekap mantle was Charles H Smiths who was an assignor to Aladdin.

Plume and Atwood made all Aladdin fonts and burners until they got flooded out in 1955.
P&A sold fonts and burners to many retailers either under their own patents or their customers.
The thread and size of the collars were adapted (or adaptors supplied) to suit the burner.
I believe this one is the same thread as the model 1 and 2 Aladdin but I have not checked.

Some of the lamps that had this font were Aladdin, Solar, Sunbeam, Lumineer.

@Anthony Just saw this thread. Nice lamp and burner! I have a couple of Beacon burners
marked both on burner and chimney with the logo of a retailer in my home town "Örebro" in Sweden.
A collar adaptor to fit European standard size of 39,5 mm. Good solid kerosene wick mantle burner!

    Very nice Conny.
Are yours still like they were made last year.
There was an earlier version too that was made just as well.

@Anthony Yes Anthony, mine looks like coming fresh out of the Home Supply Co. assembly line.

I'm really surprised at the number of pressure lantern collectors here who also collect "wickies". I started out with wick lanterns over 50 years ago. I'm new to the pressure lanterns, 35-40 years. lol
