    Another source: Buy diamond coated drill bits set and get free shipping on AliExpress

    Those will certainly do the job. They have no central drill bit to guide them so a good technique is to drill a hole in a thin wooden board first and then to fasten that securely onto the glass. It serves as a guide and helps to drill a hole with very clean edges. Feed water from a squeeze bottle while drilling to keep everything cool and prevent the glass from cracking.

    Look through this thread:

    Cutting glass globes

    The most important thing is to be slow and don’t apply pressure.

    I must be dumb as a dog turd coz I can't see the use of the gas torch. I can see that the bottle maybe is to hold water for glass cutting lubricant, but the gas torch??

    My head hurts ...... :doh:

    Pete,

    I tried to 'get it' for about 5 minutes and couldn't figure it out. I decided it was my low IQ rearing its ugly head again then saw your post, which was a relief.

    @AussiePete @Matty

    I'm glad it wasn't just me too. He's talking about lifting the glass and using the bottle to fill the meths cup, then lighting with the torch. No need for a hole in the glass.

    I was hoping for some fancy glass cutting trick though.:lol:

    Thanks for that, mystery solved ........ I'm usually quick on the uptake but this had me flummoxed :shock:. I actually wondered if I had taken my meds today. I then realised I don't take meds at all, so it couldn't be that. :lol:
