Loadshedding definition: Happens periodically in South Africa when the once world class state owned power utility Eskom cannot meet consumers demand, and we end up with rolling electricity blackouts. Depending on the severity, a schedule determines which users are cut of at what time. Typically 2 hours per day. While this is an economic disaster for our country, it inevitably turns into somewhat of an adventure in our home. Below is a collage of the light up on Wednesday evening. Our daughter studying in the light of the 249 Scout with shade, and our son supposed to study with the Primus 1020. Two Coleman 237's also did service, while the little Coleman 229 was easy to carry around. Thanks ESKOM, it was fun.
Hi Johan Agree that it is not good for us economically, but great fun if you have lanterns and lamps. Last night we had our 3 hour share and I had the 168K, 201, 639 and Glory lights doing duty. Could not take photos, as I forgot to charge my phone
Johan, the UK will be doing this soon as demand will soon outstrip generating capacity, fortunately I have many lamps to light the house.
I had a Tilley/ Coleman frank running when the lights went out. I wasn’t aware it was load shedding though and we have only been shed in the dark once so far. All daylight shedding after that.
Will defend my home from darkness in same manner if by any chance power cuts would happen. Yet I wait in vain.
