Well thats a fun one i thought when i saw this on a autionnsite and decided to put a bid on it.... It is a Lux Sirius (?) with a copper built floodlight top made by J.C. Larsén & Co (Stockholm) J.C Larsson did diffrent kind of wick-lanterns and other copper stuff. Was not sure it was a Lux before i saw Lux partnumber on top of the burner tubes. Now i dont know if this is the right place to post photos of the lamp since its not more than maybe 35% Lux... Have started to fettle with it a bit, patina looks great, will make a realy gentle renovation.
Fantastic find! I wouldn't call it a floodlight, though. The housing is to deep, and the burner mounted at the back so probably more of a searchlight (spotlight).
Great find and light up Yes, it does appear more like a searchlight. Does the reflector have a parabolic shape?
I altered the title from floodlight to searchlight a while after my comment on the matter, which pretty much was confirmed later by the shot of the beam pattern.
@jukka_t Great find and so good you bought it What is thought regarding the base part (extension?) Would that have been added by Lux before being transformed by J.C. Larsén ? regards p
Lantern tank and burner parts are Lux, rest of the top parts is J.C. Larsén. They have also added a extra stabilisator ring on bottom of tank cause top part added weight som it will not tip. SL! Jukka
I do not know if the lantern is a Lux or a Lux/Optimus, tank lid was missing, had a Lux stove that had lid that worked perfektly. When googeling J.C. Larsén Stockholm i found out that there where another like this sold in Sweden a couple of years ago, that lamp hade nickelplated Lux tank lid. SL! Jukka
