A very lucky find Steve and when it's fitted into a Jacobean stand, it's then called an ML-96!
ML=Modern Lamp, it was a modern lamp when it was first introduced in the 1920's.
This link shows the 1927 Tilley catalogue and the conversion lamp is shown there, but it's called an ML-94.
@BigStevie Nice finding, I have never seen lamp like this INDIA.
Beautiful explanation, Thank you
Hello ASHOK KUMAR, Tilley made the ML., tanks from the 1920's until sometime in the 1960's, so it's quite likely that some were exported to India, so happy lamp hunting.
@ASHOK KUMAR Thanks Ashok, it’s a good looking lamp and runs well. Hope you can find one!
My favorite lamp.
@Mendoza603 Thanks mate, I’m loving it more each day!
I contacted the seller of the lamp, he tells me it belonged to his granny and always sat on the sideboard in her croft house and was used daily until the 1960s. He added that he had no memory of it being in a base or a hanger.
