Not sure on age. I bought this beautiful lamp back to life. It has had a bit of a hard life. When i bought it it looked ok, but the thread where it meets the tank had split, it was covered over with bog and painted, when the fella was re soldering it bit of gog came off, revealing dents, i stripped the tank, removed any bog i could find, the tank had a few scratches and discoloring of the brass. I cleaned it up reprimed it painted it my favorite colour, it was green originally. It fettled very easily, new seals and a cock valve that i think is period date, ive included a few pics along the way back into service. I do like this lamp. Original condition Main damage Stripped and cleaned up reprimed and green gloss paint New seals, vaporisor, And now the money shots. Enjoy fellas,
No shade and clear glass globe makes it a WL26. An opal shade will make it a WL25 and a Vitreosil globe will make it a WL27. Nice lamp.
Nice job on that one. They’re obviously quite rare those wall Tilleys. I have never seen one up for sale in the last decade of browsing many antiques shops and salvage yards in a radius of 200 miles....
No, I don't think they're particularly rare - they seem to come up on eBay quite frequently. There are a few round here IIRC...
I know that 'the bay of Evil' is not everyone's cup of tea but it does increase the radius considerably.
Oh yes, it does, but so does the price! The real gems are hidden on dusty shelves in old bric-a-brac shops, where the owner can’t remember where he got that lamp from....
