Here is a Nagle Chase I just found.
Nearest I can tell its a model 5 fount with a model 4 burner
Lovely looking lamp and nice to see it run.
How big are they? They look big.
Yes it's big. 19" tall.
There are two different founts for these old lanterns. I have seen both models 4 and 5 with both founts. NC must have made a change during the production run of the early models. They are essentially the same lantern with different burners for kero or gas asnd there is no specific tank for either model. ::Neil::
very nice lamp
A lucky find!
Neil, so based on your expertise I should be calling this lantern a Model 4?
Yes it's a kero burner so has to be model 4 from about 1914 to 1916. The same lantern was sold with the riveted tank and a short hood 1917 to 1919. Then the riveted tank was dropped in 1920. There are in total about seven variations to model 4. The first three are the stove pipes with two different burners and two tank types. All a bit academic really since they are all pretty rare. The later versions with a more normal sized hood were sold up to at least 1930 but always with the same burner type. ::Neil::
