    Lovely gold painted Tilley X246 NOS.

    Very faint writing on the box, "not tested". This is written in pencil.

    Does anyone know what that Tilley sticker is all about?

    @george

    Do you mean the Tilley Lamp Model X246 transfer?

    If the QTY means quantity that seems an odd thing to have included. Perhaps the QTY stands for Quality?

    @Tony Press Tony, no not the transfer. This was a label on the box. That was the info I indicated under the photo I included. Part of the transfer is missing on the tank, looks like it was accidently scraped off.

    That's magnificent, I wish I could find a Tilley X246 brown hood, I have only seen them in photo's, and that is the best one I have ever seen, that is excellent edition for your collection well done.
    You've gotta be happy with that one.

    @Buggerlugs

    From what I can make out, Tilley exported the speculum plated Tilley X246 to their agents in Australia, and very few gold painted X246 with the brown hood.

    The speculum plated Tilley always came with the black hood.

    Cheers

    Thanks, guys! I was over the moon when I got this. I think I picked it about 4-5 years ago. Price was fantastic, the seller was a collector so he was more than fair. He lives somewhere in England.

    They’re gold painted steel. On the plated lamps they’re silver painted.

    That’s a great lamp George, early model, mint, just perfect!

    I’ve got a boxed one too, though mine has been lit once! They can still be found here in the UK at sensible money and what’s not to like?

    Thanks! Since this was kept in the box all these years it gives one a good idea of that gold colored paint.
