This is my unfired 1550G. A while back i was asked if i would completely rebuild a friends very rare antique fly rod which i did happily as this was my way to make money when I was a youngster, money was discussed and I got on with it. After many many hours an many many whipping cuts the rod was done, my friend was overwhelmed with his pride and joy, so now it came to the dirty word payment !!! I told him the price for materials, labour an blood an he said, or on the other hand you can walk away with both of these lanterns! This 1550 unfired and a 1350 unfired (photos to come )! What could I do! Gozzy
hi i have one of this lamp but its a little different As you see in the photo Both Optimus and Opico have been written it's normal? what is opico and optimus different?
I have never seen a label like that before and have no idea what Opico is. If it is held on with rivets, then it should be an earlier variation of the 1550. Any chance of a picture of the complete lantern?
Opico is a lamp brand. I found a Japanese image with the same lantern but marked on the tank and control wheel with Opico. –¯¶—pƒ‰ƒ“ƒ^ƒ““ÁW ::Neil::
The font on the tank is a lot like the Optimus name used in some of their logos, but otherwise there are no similarities to the 1550. It is more like a standard Chinese P'max clone.
Yes more like 1551 I would have thought. I did actually find I had Opico listed in the PLC. One had turned up on the Bay I think some years back. With a lamp showing both Optimus and Opico on the same label it is perhaps reasonable to assume some connection and perhaps Opico is an Optimus brand they used for exports to the middle and far east. ::Neil::
@alivafaei Hi, and welcome to the forum. Lovely lantern! Any chance of som more pictures please? Regards Jeremy
Now that is a version I have never seen. The collar has similarities to the 1550, but the rest looks more like the Opico that Neil linked to.
Hello opico means optimus iran co The optimus lights that were manufactured in Iran have this emblem. Your Excellency, Mr. Ali Vafaie, you are from Iran as a servant Iran was once Sweden's largest trading partner and shareholder of Optimus after the revolution. Thanks
