I don't buy many lanterns these days but this one caught my eye because of the box, instructions, swing tag, spare parts, priming tin and spanner. Any information about age would be gratefully received.
Very nice find. It's in good condition and getting all the rest is a big bonus. What's written on the tank. It depends on whether it says 300 or 300P. Until then I'd put it at the end of the 40s.
With 300 on the tank we can narrow it down to a fairly short period. Most parts are correct for the last variation of the 300 but the wheel and vapouriser are from the 300P. This makes me think that it would be from the transition period from the 300 to the 300P. Using up old parts etc. We don't have an accurate date for the transition, but it happened sometime in the late 1940s. That would put your lamp in that time frame. Maybe up to 1950 at the latest.
For any collector they come hardly nicer than this. Does the printing show any dating? Can you tell us how you found this very, very nice lamp? Mike
Sadly not Mike. It was a chance find when looking through my favourite UK ebay sellers, looking for (dare I say it) stoves.
