Hello Here is an Optimus 350 lamp a good friend sent me.He got it from his father who bought it in the early 80s. It is unused and came in box with no markings on it only the price can be seen NOK 300. There are small specks on the nickel finish which I might remove. Lamp came with spareparts kit. Pump leather, tanklid washer, jet, needle, mantle and tool.Label is not riveted and control knob is marked Optimus Made in Sweden. Does this make it a 70s lamp ? best regards bjørn
With the nickel top hat rather than the red enamel, it is typical of the lamps ordered by the Norwegian military. For some reason they wanted nickel plated top hats. Anyway, if all the parts are original I would guess the age to be around the late 1960s to early 1970s.
Thank you Nils I believe my friend's father got this one from the military. The other 350s I have are all fitted with nickel top hat. Brgds Bjørn
I might have to revise my date estimate. If I can trust a faded stamp on the box of one of mine, the Optimus name was already gone from the wheel by 1969. That would put yours before 1969, so mid to late 60s.
good morning I have just received 2 of these lamps. What is the exact model number? How to I get a replacement spirit cup/basin tube? What is the best way to remove the same corrosion and polish them up nicely?
Hello castillojer The model number is seen on the label Optimus 350. Spirit cup can be had from Base Camp in UK or Fogas in Sweden ( fogas.se ) To polish the tank I use Autosol polishing compound. brgds Bjørn
