Good morning everyone I am a new user, my name is Renato and today I bought a Petromax 826 of which I attach photos. Can anyone give me some information about it. I would like to put it back into operation and then recover the glass screen, but first I think it is worth doing some tests, some suggestions. I also have a Coleman 220K that without many problems I use after a general cleaning and that's it, but for the Petromax I know that I will have to work on it, thanks in advance for the advice·
Welcome aboard! Your lantern should restore well enough and the links below show relevant information, but the library is only open to subscribers. Lanterns https://classicpressurelamps.com/threads/petromax-821-826-523.12238/
Hi @Renato Lorenzi , and welcome to the forum. This one is a pretty old model, surely pre WWII era. Perhaps you can identify some faint scribbled numbers on its bottom, which will indicate month/year of manufacture. Parts for those are still available, and also the glass cylinder ist still to get by. However, to remove the non-return valve on the bottom of the pump tube you may need to make a special tool, but still this has been described here in the forum several times and is no rocket science. Good luck with your fettle!
It is a very old rare Petromax 826. The inner cleading (#117) with J-tube and burner is attached to the cap with a metal bracket with 2 screws. This design already existed in the late twenties. 7 4 is scratched on the underside of the tank, which means July 1934. Reinhard
