This Petromax 829 B. I bought in such a condition. I learned from fellow forumers that it was designed to run on gasoline, but that for safety reasons it is recommended to use kerosene. I cleaned the components, washed what I could and put it together. I had some trouble getting the Rapid to work, but again my colleagues were happy to help. When I got to grips with the Rapid, I refueled with kerosene and did a burner test. It required a longer warm-up, but it looked pretty decent. I then put on the mantle and fired it up again. I noticed a slight yellowish glow outside the mantle. It was suggested here that I replace the nozzle with one with a smaller jet. I will purchase such one soon. Thank you all for your helpful advice. Greetings Stanislaw
Looks good Stan. You’ve captured the aura of the burner output well. Evidently you encountered former insect occupants as I did with my current BAT No.42 project. John
It looks good. At least it came with all original parts intact. Not sure about the glass globe though.
Very good work And it is proof that the straight carburetor also works with kerosene. It is therefore rightly called a universal carburetor.
Thank you all very much for your interest and help with this work. I am glad that it was successful. Greetings Stanislaw.
