I found this Petromax 834 on ebay recently. It's a bit of a rustbucket but I hope I can get running.

Does anyone know where I could get a filler cap for it?

What about the ceramic nozzle? Will a lantern nozzle fit? The mixing tube comes in two parts so I think the answer is no.

    Hi James

I wonder if you unscrew whats left of the combined ceramic mixing chamber/nozzle these might be a thread on the inlet tube that may take a 500cp Petromax clone brass & ceramic burner replacement :-k

Got to be worth a try :D

A filler cap from another Px fits for the moment, till you find an original one.

More problems you will have with the nozzle, this is a aspecially 834 size

    Hello James,

The 834 is a 250cp lamp, the thread size is different from the same size nozzle off of an 827.

834 on the left, 827 on the right.

I do not remember if there is a seperate nozzle holder on the 834, if so perhaps it could be swapped for a newer threaded style.

It all depends on the final price. Some sellers in teh far east ask more for shipping then the lamps are worth.
A refelctor which also holds the globe would be a nice feature too.
    The door isn't correct.

Thanks for the info about the filler cap - that's one problem sorted. If I can't find an original part I suppose one of those Schrader valve caps would be closest.

Upon taking it apart I discovered that the threaded part of the mixing tube is broken. I could probably solder it up but maybe I should just try and graft the end of a modern lantern mixing tube onto it as this would also solve my nozzle problem.

I bought this lantern from Italy but I assume it was originally used in India. I got it cheap so I can't really complain if it is missing a few bits.
