    Here is my Petromax 900, it is rated at 100 HK as discussed in this previous thread Petromax 900 Baby pricker size? which was very helpful for fettling this lantern.

    A lot of the nickel plating has been worn off the fount and there is a rather severe dent under the pricker control mechanism. A previous owner has tried unsuccessfully to remove the eccentric nut with an excessively large spanner.

    After dismantling, the parts had a soak in a hot citric acid bath and polished with Autosol .

    The vapouriser was scrubbed internally with a brass brush and a flexible cable fed around the loop to remove carbon deposits.

    On the base of the lantern there are two parallel scratches, these could be accidental or they could be 11and identifying the manufacture date Jan 1931? (see photo). No other scratches looking like numbers could be seen.

    The glass is 100.5mm high, 74.5mm diameter and 1.5mm thick.

    It is marked

    Petromax
    Emblem with EG
    Made in Germany

    The pricker needle was broken and making a new one is discussed in this post Making a pricker for a Petromax 900 “Baby”

    The nipple has a copper wire seal (see photos). The jet was badly worn, I could fit a 0.31mm diameter wire through the jet. I decided to re sleeve the jet with a 31Gauge hypodermic needle and this is shown in this post Hypodermic Needle fix for the Jet

    @ROBBO55
    Congratulations and thank you for such a good report on the process to light that beautiful piece. Just today I have started my movements to turn on my Petromax 900 Little Baby but I am stopped in a very important detail.
    I do not have the 100cp injector and I only have one of 150hk that does not have the same thread and I do not have the stomach to force it.

    I have waited a lot and only this detail does not let me go further. What is the path they have taken when they do not have the same thread injector?
    I imagine it is virtually impossible to find an original one.
    I appreciate tips and experiences.

    Cesar

    @Cesar , if you ruin the thread, you ruin your lantern.
    Put your lnatern aside until you find the right parts or adonor lantern. Or modify a modern 150cp vaporizer so it will fit.
    But then you remake a 900Hk into a 150cp version.
    if the 900 petromax was sold in your country, parts will pop up in time.

    Thanks Gentlemen I am very pleased to get this lantern going. It's been one of those projects that has been sitting around for a while. I knew the jet and the pricker were a problem that needed procrastination and deliberation rather than rip-tear and bust. :-k:lol:

    @Cesar

    Thanks.
    I believe you are right and getting a replacement 100HK nipple(injector) will be difficult.
    I'm not sure if I can give much advise but the thread for the 100KH nipple (injector) has a nominal M7 x 0.75 thread and the 150KH nipple (injector) has a nominal M7 x 1.0 thread so they are not compatible.

    Here More Petromax vap surgery Presscall carried out some major surgery to overcome a similar problem.

    Some people have modified the thread pattern either in the vapouriser or on the nipple using taps and dies.

    Good luck

    Fantastic lantern and great ‘photoshoot’! I’m sure those images will come in handy to many members for years to come. Good stuff.

    Thanks for your advice and the valuable information provided, I will keep looking for the 100cp injector with the corresponding thread.
