I found this lantern in a large box of parts and spares I bought a few years back, the lantern was in pieces and covered in dirt. I am unsure on the vent and the tank may have been painted gold when new but it shows well as it is.

Hi ! If your looking for a date its after Christer's PL53 because the studs soldered on to the tank allow the frame to fix to these studs with long tubular nuts or sleeves over the ends of the frame. Your sleeves have been shortened as Tilley were saving on materials during war years, look at Christer's lamp sleeves over frame ends much longer.
Production of the PL53 never made it out of the second world war so your lamp is well into 40's. Does a magnet stick to bottom ! ...mick
