image.jpg Hi fellas, am I missing something,I got my heater going, but it appears that the flame is coming out the bottom of the mess support, dose this type of heater use a ceramic tube like Tilley? image.jpg image.jpg
    Any suggestions
    Thanks

You shouldn't be getting yellow flames out the bottom of the wire mesh, but blue flames are not uncommon when pumped up to the max. This is probably more common with the 1020 jet rather than the original size jet for the heater. They did not use a ceramic tube on these heaters.

Here’s a better picture of what’s going on, it’s burning all good it has steady flame formations, not sure if this is how they operate normally image.jpg
It is putting out some serious heat

    That doesn't look right!
Too many flames on the outside, both on the top and the bottom.
And with orange tips too... doesn't it smell?

I guess it is running too rich.
Perhaps the jet is worn out.

Maybe just too much pressure. Try only pumping until the mesh is glowing properly and maybe some very small blue flames out the bottom.

Just for reference, here are a couple of photos I took of one of mine some time ago.

@Nils Stephenson , certainly going better than mine, I think I’ll need a new jet, thank you for the picture, it gives me some better idea on what it should look like
