Got this Radius 102 200CP today. Posting some images after the initial cleanup. Needs a new pumpleather & spring. Havent pressurized it yet, will let it soak lubricants for a while. Pre or post WW2?
And so there was light. No leaks. A yellow-ish light may indicate that more fettling has to be done. However I used grillstarter-fluid as fuel for the first time, but the same mantle (had to replace the one in the first pictures) as in the recent aquired PX821 witch shined white-bright. Odourless fumes so combustion should be OK?
Second run. A more thorrow cleanup. Upper carburator & rod was somewhat clogged. Citric acid for the rusted parts worked as intended. Light now a tad (white)brighter but still not quite like the PX821. Different fuel though so that may be it. Still no one who will make a guess at its birth-date?
Nice little lantern these, and not that common either so you did well to grab one. Congratulations. I can't give you an educated guess about it's age, but I'm sure someone soon will chip in and help you there.
Generally as a rule of thumb you can say that the Radius lanterns with a red hat are from the 50s. They could have started in the late 40s, but I don't have enough data to say one way or the other. It wont be any later than 1956 though as that was the year the 102 was replaced by the 108.
Thanks! There is an ended auction on the Bay that states :"a flashlight SWEDEN KEROSENE PRESSURE made by RADIUS. Model 102 B, VERY RARE !!!! Was produced from 1931 to about 1935..." Seller stated this one had a B on the fount..
Does anyone know if spare emaneled redhats are avaliable for these lamps somewhere? Or, a chromed one that doesnt ruin its authenticy? No luck at google so far Haavar
