Hi fellas I had this radius 119 proudly sitting on my top shelf in my office for a few years, it was a good find, no glass. I had bought jet , needle and the fuel cap pressure seals, I came across a radius globe the right size it has import on it, The lantern looked all brass, it had the usual patina and surface grime and dust. I would look at it up on my shelf and say I’ll get it going one day, so I did and here it is. I stripped it down. The parts I washed in hot soapy water, a bit of polish with 0000 steel wool, it all came up good clean with as much patina as found, the pricker was a bit out of the ordinary it has a spiral taper, I have not seen anything like it before. The Preston loop generator was choked I lean it out with the heat and cool a few times, the I used a long drill to drill it out it was quite blocked. I used break cable to clear as much as I could from the loop. I used the original eccentric block a pricker rod from an 1 A Aladdin perfect for the job. new pricker and jet. I maid a new generator seat seal from lead, new graphite packing in the pricker control some fine tuning on the pricker length, the reassembly went well. Finished looking good, dunk test was good. test run the money shot. Very happy with my work, learnt about new pricker being different, there was either a disaster or someone has good work skills. A very cool bright lantern in my collection
Well done Darryl. It appears to be working well. The 119 usually works well and is a quiet runner. The one you have would be from somewhere between 1934 and 1937. It is not unheard of to find original brass versions but a lot have just had their nickel coating removed. I believe that was very popular in the 70s and 80s.
It still has some nickel plating here and there in the creases hard to get at @Tony Press , Not many that I have come across, I can assume they are about the place @Fireexit1
Very cool Manufactured by the descendants of the Vikings in the golden age of pressurelamps. Regards,Reinhard
