The jet in this Gloria lantern Gloria Lantern (Australia) was 0.33mm diameter. When trying to fire it up it kept flooding.

I measured the thread on the nipple at 9/64” – 40 TPI (A Model engineering thread but non standard size).

Whilst looking through my spare nipples and vapourisers I noticed the Handi Kero-pet looked similar.

    Dimensions –

    Gloria

    Nipple thread – 3.54mm (9/64”) – 40 TPI

    Diameter – 6.3mm (1/4”)

    Length- 102.6mm

    Cleaning rod – 106.7mm

    Mounting nut - 11.1mm (7/16”)

    Handi

    Nipple thread – 3.9mm (5/32”) – 120 TPI

    Diameter – 6.3mm (1/4”)

    Jet – < 0.21 > 0.18 mm ( couldn’t measure it exactly)

    Length- 101.3mm

    Cleaning rod – 111.2mm

    Mounting nut – 11.1mm (7/16”)

Handi on the LEFT Gloria on the RIGHT

The threads were not compatible for a straight swap.

Swapped the inner coil, and mounting nut from the Gloria to the Handi vapouriser.

    3.jpg

Shortened the Handi cleaning rod to 103mm and rethreaded the end with #1 UNF (72 TPI) die.

Note: length shortened in steps and checked in position until vapouriser fitted.

Nice and bright, no more halo.

Excellent! and good to know about the Handi swap.

Now to ponder why so many Australian Gloria's have large diameter jets in their nipples - even ones without a cleaning needle... :-k.

    Cheers

    That is insanely fine-threaded!

    Thanks @MYN , you're right.
    I don't know where I got 120 from.
The thread on the Handi nipple is 5/32" - 60 TPI.
