Dean, As I told you elsewhere, this really is a nice looking lamp. Standard Light/San Diego really put some effort into allowing the user to light their lamps/lanterns with a minimum of fuss. The pre-heat valve is pretty cool on this lamp and their efforts were just as impressive on one of their lanterns. Dean, I'd be interested to know if you tried lighting the lamp without using the pre-heat cup? It doesn't really look like a torch light generator more a match light. I have a San Diego in America that is to be sent to me though it is quite different to this lamp. The fount is rounder and it doesn't have the fancy pre-heating system as this one does.
