what do I miss here? how to connect this to the fuel chamber, principals? any suggestion I need to restore this one?
Hi @didier, I used 4mm diameter copper tube and some connecters like these. I got the connecters from a shop which sells parts to people who make model steam engines. Does this part look anything like this ? I used the tank from a spare lamp for a fuel container and an old generator to connect the tube to the fuel tank.
oh interesing it is a bit different, but yes, the same principal of course. ref. new missing the steel needle at the last pictures = fundamental for its working does it needs a gas mantle or not? does somebody knows where to buy the glass protector ? looks like it needs one? is on 3 cm diameter....
Looks more like for gasoline and the burner is pretty similar to a few HW lamps I have here in the states
You can fit a Petromax needle by cutting off the brass nose and drill & tap the eccentric block M2. The needle has to be modified by grinding off the sides to fit into the jet and extend the thread so it will screw into the eccentric. That burner is very like the AGM & Nulite types which have been fettled like this. ::Neil::
Great advice, Neil! Much easier than other work! The jet is missing too so, if AGM look alike burner: would a petromax jet fit on this lamp? Or any other?
nice for this advice... i try to find one.. you thinks this kit would work? ttps://www.ebay.com/itm/134183497676?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20230811123856%26meid%3D516548573967425583f6845cb3284a61%26pid%3D101770%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D134183497676%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2%26brand%3DPetromax&_trksid=p4375194.c101770.m146925&_trkparms=parentrq%3Ad20ae97718e0ac1d23701fb4ffffe900%7Cpageci%3Addd51d00-f8be-11ee-9a76-ceca89c7ce4c%7Ciid%3A1%7Cvlpname%3Avlp_homepage
I'm not sure but I would expect the threads to be different at least and I suspect the P'Max is a larger Dia as well. I know you have to reduce the pricker dia to make it slot into an AGM jet which implies the P'Max is bigger. Could perhaps be possible to cut a smaller thread on a P'Max jet if there is enough metal to allow that but I have no idea what that thread is. I would look for a similar American jet from makes like AGM, Coleman or Nulite. Problem here though is we don't know the cp of this lamp. The AGM and Nulite types are 400cp and the Coleman 300cp but this beast could be anything from 200 to 800cp. ::Neil::
These are my lamps and unfortunately I don’t have them handy but as soon as I get to my storage I’ll take some pictures from the burner. I found a burner image online and shared it here. Same burner as my lamps
These are the AGM burner images from the PLC and the Nulite HW burner from the 1912 catalogue. ::Neil::
