I decided to experiment with my 3 Superbs to see how long they take to light. (I think the lock-down may be finally getting to me!)

I've got three working examples, another waiting for a new fount and one 'on lock-down' in Surrey!

    Here they are...

    The timings are as follows:

    No 1

    Coldstart. Dated Dec 1953
Butterfly green top sock type mantle
    No fuel in generator.
    50 pumps, fuel valve closed
    Full cup meths pre-heat
    1m 20s few pops
    1m 30s opened valve,
Added 29 pumps to full brightness

    No 2

    Coldstart. Dated Sept 1953
    Butterfly round type mantle
Fuel in generator from last light
    50 pumps, fuel valve closed
    Full cup meths pre-heat
60 seconds mantle begins to glow
    1m 20s opened valve,
Added 15 pumps to full brightness

    No 3

    Coldstart. Date un-readable
    Butterfly round type mantle
Fuel in generator from last light
    50 pumps, fuel valve closed
    Full cup meths pre-heat
55 seconds mantle begins to glow
    1m 20s opened valve,
Added 30 pumps to full brightness

Well if you don't need them, I would definitely be interested. And I might need another 350 fount as well dammit as I can't get the NRV to stop spinning. I fear the thread might have been stripped at some point in the past. ](*,) :x

Probably the one that is way down South waiting for lock-down to end. It's nickel plated and looks to be in almost pristine condition but out of the three you see here, probably the one one the left just because its the brightest.

Hmmm, that's tomorrow's first job - to extricate the NRV from a Veritas 350 and change the seal. I hope the stove tool works because that's all I've got. The entire bliddy lantern is fighting me all the way... :rage:
