Can anyone point me in the right direction for a new top to suit a Petromax 821 baby.

I see this poor old thing for sale (or almost give away). A new glass and knob can be bought from the Petromax website fairly cheaply, a new hat might be more difficult to find.

There is already one baby in my collection, unfortunately with a badly cracked fount. Hopefully I will get one good one out of the pair. Even better to get them both working again.

    Hi Mark,

You can start looking on the bay of evil for most if not all of the parts you need.

    Cheers,

Hi Mark, this is a used 200CP hood that would fit your Baby Petromax, it would also match its patina in a certain way. It's an unbranded hood that can be found on old Solex 200CP lamps and it is very similar to the original.

I can give it to you if the shipping from Italy is not a problem, I don't need it and I am glad to help you.

    Let me know,

    Nicola

Thanks Nicola. Very kind of you. I will send a PM and we may be able to arrange some more swaps

Well, let's see what we can do with this old wreck.
Unfortunately it has a nasty cracked bottom. Same as my other baby 821. I guess a common fault.
Still got a few more weeks at sea, then can get home and start the clean up.
I suppose it caught on fire sometime in the past and ended up melting the brass.
    Anyone else seen this sort of damage? IMG-20180814-WA0002.jpg IMG-20180814-WA0001.jpg IMG-20180814-WA0004.jpg IMG-20180814-WA0003.jpg IMG-20180814-WA0005.jpg

looks to me like it has been filled with petrol instead of kerosene at sometime in the past and the owner could not put the fire out.
