That’s a nice restoration. Single front foot so probably second model, the first model had shorter legs if I remember correctly.
@Tom Pedersen Does the control cock have a bush into which it screws (like the Tilley X246)? If so, it would be the second variation of the AL21 model. Cheers Tony
Hate to be pedantic, but there’s one Model Al 21 and a number of variations or types… @Mackburner lists 4 types plus the AL21 “Rocket” in the Pressure Lamp Catalogue. Cheers Tony
Yes I have listed 4 major variations to AL21 which are listed in the PLC. :- AL21 (1st) As AL11; 9” x 9” x 11.5”. Three legs. Brass fittings. Fixed jet cleaner control. No valve. Separate pressure release screw. Machined brass air buttons with 12 holes drilled around circumference. Black paint. Replaced AL11 about 1940-1941. AL21 (2nd) As 1st AL21 but with control cock and bush as fitted to X246 lanterns. No pressure release. Probably 1946 - mid 1950s AL21 (3rd) As 2nd AL21 above, but with four legs. All black Painted up to about 1959. Later examples silver paint. Mid 1950s - 1961. AL21 (4th) As 3rd AL21, but alloy fittings as fitted to X246A. Air buttons plated brass with knurled rim and metal gauze filters. Silver/grey paint. This model was used by the German army (Bundeswehr). 1961-1967. ::Neil::
