:D Had this one for quite a while now, debuted this year at Newark where it got lit for the first time in my owner ship, and a very good job it did. I have swapped a few parts around since I bought it to make it the best I can.

Same lamp, but without the stand is AL15 and with the stand is AL16 - innit?

I have found the labels to be different as well David.

The AL15s I have all have the stand cutout at the base rim for the AL16.

Unsure if the earliest 15s were without, however.

I suspect Tilley quickly realised that it was more cost effective to produce only one type of lamp rather than two i.e. all with the cut-out. Then it could be sold as either an AL15 without the stand or AL16 with it. Appropriate badging could be applied to suit, although getting that right wasn't always top priority for Tilley.

Judging by the number of survivors, I imagine the AL15 was a much bigger seller than the AL16.

Glad you all like the lamp.

One thing to note on both the Al15 and the Al16 is the location of the instruction transfer. Although most if not all these lamps have the cut out for the track stand, lamps marked Al15 seem to have the transfer located on the back, a track stand would obscure this. Al16's like this have it on the side where it is still visible. I don't know if this follows on with all these lamps, someone is bound to have an Al16 with a transfer on the back.
