I got this lamp a while ago, restored more to shelf queen status. Not sure the glossy look really goes with the industrial look of it, but it's not going to get re-finished.

A collector in Johannesburg found and bought two AL21s in the last week. We were all flabbergasted. Never seen one in the flesh here in Cape Town.

    Matthew,

A very fine restoration. It looks great in black.

I'm sure it sets off your other lamps and lanterns quite nicely on the shelf but this is a fun lantern to bring along on camping trips. Always a head turner and excellent conversation piece at the campgrounds here in the States.

Thanks for all the kind words chaps. I have another of these Dan, it's a later four legged one which was just restored briefly so I could use it. That one always comes with me on trips but I tend not to walk around with it these days. I did it once and I think my arm got longer.

Nice one Matthew. I seach for the type 2 myself. If you put the type 2 next to a 4-legged you will see it is much-ish higher because of the controlcock.
