This is a reproduction hood for the Tilley EX100/Kayen AP2 and similar lanterns. These reproductions were made by TW Sands and are the same colour inside and out. They have the sharp angled cut-off on the corners of the top cowl of the hood. This example is unfired and is from Jim Dick's collection. I have other examples of different colours and will post these separately. Cheers Tony @Jean J I know...
That is a very clean example ,Tony. But should they be listed under spares or reproductions? Repro Corner @Tony Press
Martin I'll leave that to the Moderators to decide... We might need a video referee and "snicko" to decide. Cheers Tony @ROBBO55
Were Sand's a distributor in the same vein as Condrup? Condrup did some of their own Primus spares but I wouldn't class them as repro. I'd tend to class any spare made at the same time as the original as a generic. Stuff made decades later as repro.
Ross and Martin These were made well after Tilley or the Kayen clan made them. Some were made as replacement hoods to be fitted on lanterns with burnt out or rusted hoods (ie as spares) like this blue one. The “one-offs” like the IL33 hood and the one with the screws are definitely special order. On balance, I’m happy for these to be moved to Repro Corner. Cheers Tony @spiritburner @ROBBO55
