This is how it was when i got it And it works well so i cleaned it up very happy What do you think not bad for a beginner?
@Buggerlugs I now notice, having spotted your EX100 in the Action Gallery, that you’ve swapped the original Tilley bail (handle) shown in the first photo of this thread, for a Kayen bail. Tilley: Kayen: Cheers Tony
Also so is this a Kayen hanger? How do i tell as i thought the its was the rounded ends or is it the knurl?
@Buggerlugs That’s a why it’s good to keep track of what bits come with what lamp.. I’ll stick my neck out a bit - and I don’t mind being proven wrong: Looking through my and others’ Kayens, the nuts appear more tapered to the top, and more rounded at the top, than the Tilley nuts do. Nonetheless, the Kayen bails do have variations, as do the Tilley bails. Your Tilley bail on the above lamp is quite short, for example. The pattern of knurling differs, as well. These are Tilley bail nuts: These are Kayen bail nuts: Cheers Tony @Anthony
I would say that the one you just posted above is Tilley. It looks like the one on my wartime steel tank EX100: Tony
@Buggerlugs As best as I can tell these EX100 lanterns were first sold in Australia from mid-1940 (23 May 1940 is my earliest date for advertising). Its predecessor, the EX 4 was still being advertised late into 1940 in rural NSW. Cheers Tony
