Ive noticed that there were 2 types of burner fitted to the R1 radiator. Does anybody know which type should be fitted to this particular heater? (Ignore the lamp burner and gallery currently on it) Here is the Ribbed version which in my mind looks newer Here is the straight version which looks an earlier type. So which should it be? Thanks in advance.
The flat topped burner is the correct one for your heater. The domed one came in in the '50's. Check out Tilley heaters in the Reference Gallery to see examples of even earlier burners. Henry.
There are actually three different burners. Up to the late 1930s there was a cast iron type as on this Early 1930s R1. ::Neil::
Ooh I didn’t know that! I have a GF control cock not XN so I assume that the cast version is too early for me. Every day is a school day.
