    This style of pump was also used on the Tilley X-246-A lanterns and on the BR-49-A lanterns, if the tanks were plated then so were the pumps, but if the tanks were painted then the pumps were also painted.

    In my opinion, the build quality of this style of pump was much poorer than it was on the earlier Tilley pumps.

    Perhaps a little poorer but still far superior to the all aluminium rubbish on the X246B.

    @Henry Plews And @JEFF JOHNSON
    I agree with you Both.
    In my opinion, the X246B is the poorest cousin to the X246 Guardsman.
    Cheers

    Hello Pete, the Tilley X-246-B lantern does leave much to be desired, but if they are cheap, then I do buy them as they are useful for parts.

    I am not overly impressed with the quality of these pumps, the last one I fettled had manufacturing defect. They have a disposeable feel to them rather than a made to last and work well feel.
    But they are easy to swap with a guardsmen type pump for lovers of chunky brass.

    I also prefer the Tilley Guardsman lantern pump.
