Here is my second example of this 1949 to late '50s TL106. When I got it, it was incomplete, so this was a restoration job. As it came (with an EX100 hood) The various components, as fitted to the restored TL106: A second hand gallery; new springs and reproduction springs and bolts (ex "Juliands"); and a Tilley 182 "onion" globe. Tilley insect screens. Replacement pump (on the left). The one that came with the lamp had a non-Tilley pump knob and shaft (on the right, possibly Kayen). Control cock (refurbished original on left; similar period control cock on right showing parts). Original Tilley No.606 vapouriser, cleaned and tested (see below). Tank cleaned; painted with VHT white; and brass polished and clear coated. I had to replace the burner as the one that came with it has too worn and did not function properly. I will use this burner for a little experiment I'm going to conduct to see whether they can be revived by brazing. Up and running. I have some fettling notes for this stove, but I will not be able to post them until later in the weekend. Cheers Tony
Fine job, Tony! Try it with a 7" vapouriser and see if you can notice a difference. These are my favourite lamps for use in winter.
Michel The shade is a yellowish cream. It is from a "pork pie" Tilley TL146 that belonged to my parents when I was born. The TL146 appears in the 4th photo in this link: Tilley TL106 (TL116) I really must get around to posting the TL146 in the Reference Gallery. Cheers Tony
