A nicely patinated Tl13, earlier than my other example with the deep control cock socket. Had to add parts to complete it, but I think it looks quite nice now its all finished and topped off with an original lemon top hat.

I believe it is in fact a Tl13 with a top hat fitted

    Wow, the patina is fantastic.
Is there a process, other than time, where we can get a nice tone of patina on our brass fonts?

    Cheers

Try dipping it in a hot caustic soda solution.

Hot caustic soda solution sounds a bit dangerous. Maybe some metal electo players would be the go here.

You can put shiny brass in a vessel, and then place a little tub with ammonia inside.
Put a tight lid on it all and let the ammonia vapour slowly patinate the brass. It can take an hour or more.
It works well, and gives a dark, deep bronze look.

This is an old method used by e.g. jewellers who needed a quick patina on brass parts, but then it probably was solid things in cast brass.
I don't really recommend it on tanks and things made out of thinner and rolled material, due to the risk of developing stress cracks prematurely!
    But it works fantastically well...

Hi Pete, @pete sav I gave it a gentle clean with 0000 steel wool and autosol, then rubbed some briwax into it and buffed it up. It's the first time i've used it and i'm really pleased with the way it's come up. It looked a bit blotchy after the initial clean, but with the wax, it covered up all of that.

Mmmmm food for thought, experimentation seems to be the go.

    Cheers
