Hi, I’ve got a Turner 511 stripped down and cleaned and ready to put back together. But I remember a few previous comments online about this model being easily damaged by people who don’t know what they’re doing. Doesn’t look particularly complicated. Would welcome any advice as I’m unlikely to find another of these in this neck of the woods!

The part that most folks damage upon dissembly is the eccentric link. Your's is still in place I see. Have you tried to run it? If it runs as is I would leave well enough alone. That's never the case for me however.

Thanks Toby, yes I tried to run it but it wasn’t happy. It really did need a full strip down and clean. Would take some real mishandling to sheer that off I reckon. Got everything apart ok now, just need to finish the cleaning and get it back together.

    A nice lantern you have.
Apart from what Toby mentioned, I couldn't think of anything else being particularly delicate on this lantern.
I'd say anything on any lantern can be easily damaged even by people who supposedly know what they're doing. :)
Things just happen sometimes. It is not that we can remain alert, wary or careful at all times.
It would be quite difficult to find spare parts for this one.
