This was a real rust bucket when I got it. But the vent is PERFECT! So it got blasted and high temp silver painted. Parts boiled in citric acid. Turner soup. Had a guy at the auto paint shop color match to the vent. DuPont Centari. It has a Macbeth Thermo globe with the lighting hole. It burns real nice.

I always thought these were kinda clunky and solid but well made. There are quite a few variations of this lamp in a range of colours and with different model numbers but all more or less the same lamp. I think there had to be some tie in with Preway as well because there are some lamps around with bits of both Turner and Preway in them. Just trying to remember the brand. Ah yes Brooklure. Got one here somewhere maybe I will have to dig it out and see if I can run it up for a photo. ::Niel::

I marvel at the ways some of these companies designed their "Instant Light" systems. They work but it's like starting a locomotive. Then there's the "crankshaft" tip cleaner system on this. That's a real joy to take apart to clean everything. That "connecting rod" that the priker attaches to can be busted in a heartbeat if you get a moment of "hamfistedness".

    Bob,

I had to do a repair on the guts where the cam ring meets the rod....it broke on me when I had it apart cleaning it. I had to silver solder it. What a pain in the butt repair, in fact, I set it aside after I broke it (frustrated) and then came back a year later (determined).....I won. I think you guided me on lighting this for the first time.....
