We'll be holding a virtual Newark on CCS & CPL to share your 'live' pics of stoves in flame & lamps alight.

I'll have a few dotted around my garden for the occasion and post some photos. This is a great idea!

Great idea. Just the excuse I need to have an "all lamp" light up of my modest collection.

This is great idea, I was thinking what to do, borders are closed. Now I can talk and show my new finds just sitting in my garden...

Zoom will enable a 'live lamp meeting' but only up to 40 minutes on the Free version. I could probably get access to the Pro Version (unlimited time) so those logged on can see all those participating in their own little window (best on a laptop as the bigger the screen the easier it is to see everyone) it also means that over an evening people can come and go as they please..
So Colin...you said it first so it's your shout but do you have the unlimited Pro version? if not I can find out for certain if I can borrow a friends paid account...as long as he isn't using it himself, just let me know.

It is so cool and easy even for those less tech savy, whoever is the host posts details to 'JOIN A MEETING' everyone just puts those numbers into the box and joins....hey presto, everyone connected.
I for one will be outside with a few lamps lit and a fire going of some sort.

I think Zoom is the way to go. I'll be running some tests in the coming weeks.

Like I say, if you have a paid for version you can have up to 100 participants with unlimited view time, the Free version is limited to 3 participants and 40 minute sessions.
I'm sure most have experienced zoom by now, it has been something of a godsend in these days of lock down.

To be honest with you Henry, I don't think any of us had heard of Zoom or Microsoft Teams, maybe Skype? but since the lock down these bits of software have become lefe savers.

Well, you all lost me around March 18, I might just take a photograph of one lamp and post it on CPL. Is there a set time for this, it will be light here until about 10pm.

Like I said earlier, I dont want to step on anyone's toes but I can host this properly on zoom, unlimited numbers and time if people want. I would really recommend access with something bigger than a phone otherwise the viewer can only see 4 participants. A laptop, is best but a tablet is OK, phone is also OK but does have limitations mentioned. It's as simple as logging on to: zoom.us/join ..finally enter the code the 'host' has given and press join...so if I was hosting I would post up the code an hour or so before on CPL. Sunset is 9.18pm GMT on Saturday 30th May, so it would make sense to start an hour before so that members could show lamps in the daylight before light up. I'm going to have my laptop setup outside, a few lamps lit and probably a fire going in the chimnea. Bare in mind, if you are using a laptop or tablet you will need to be within your wireless range and if you're on your phone, it'll need to be fully charged.

But then, admin might already have this sorted?
The offer is there anyway and I can even pass on hosting duties .. whatever you want.
