Rollschmidts said, It’s certainly a handsome lamp Roland. The pricker control ‘handle’ is an attractive touch. I like the spherical pump knob too. Es ist sicherlich eine schöne Lampe Roland. Der „Griff“ der Stechhilfesteuerung ist eine attraktive Note. Ich mag auch den kugelförmigen Pumpenknopf.
Das ist sehr schon and the original glass .. can I ask if the pump tube thread is ‘pressed’ into the tube please? not sure how to say all that in German
Yes, it was worth it in any case. But it was embarrassing to hear the call over the loudspeaker at check-in that I should go to the baggage check. So check out, walk through the halls to the basement, open the suitcase, unpack the lamps, open the tank cap , Let appraise, explain, then the whole reverse gear. Only that the security check had to be done again, and with the plane waiting
@rollschmidts no, sorry.. I think I can see on your other photos, danke its just that I have seen that pressed/rolled thread before.. also on a lamp that is ‘Industria Argentina’ I thought it was unusual
This design of lantern seems to be the most commonly found in Argentina and so far Juan and I have discovered 69 different brands of the same lantern. All are rare outside Argentina. I believe most if not all are actually re-branded Volcan made by Cuareta S.A. Calle Cobos, Barrio de Boedo, Buenos Aires. although Juan tells me that not all have compatible parts so there may be more than one manufacturer. ::Neil::
.. almost 70 different brands! .. kin ell.. yes, looking through the gallery there do seem to be repeats of certain parts.. pump knobs/handles.. knurled parts and the alu pricker handles they must have been pretty prolific? edit; well obviously they have : I need to get the plc
This is the list of brands for Volcan and clones from the PLC :- AMYL, ARPON, ATATI, AYMERICH, AYMARÓ, BATRIGAS, BELLO SOL, BIBIGAS, BROKSOL, BROMAR, CHUILUX, CROCODILE, DEL SUR, DILECTA, EL FAVORITO, EL NOCHERO, EL PORTENO, ESLABON DE LUJO, ESTO, ESTRENAR, FAROMET, FEL-SOL, FOCO, GRANLUX, GRAN TAMAÑO, HALCON, HERODES, HURRICANE, IMPETU, ITATI, JAMES LEE, KING SOL, L107, LITELEC, MARLA, NEIS, NEROLUX, NERVO, NEVIO, OESTE, PATRIA, PIQUE, QUELUZ, QUEMÚ-QUEMÚ, RADIOSOL, RAWA, REFUSILO, ROCARD, ROCHESTER, ROLIER, ROWEN, RUPEBE, SABA, SAETA, SAULO, SAYBE, SILBER, SILEMA, SIMPLEX, SOL DE NOCHE, STARS, TERUEL, TIBURÓN, TRIUNFO, VARELA, VICO, VISUAL, VOLCÁN, WISCONSIN. They seem to be exclusive to Argentina and not many escape but they are pretty well made and work quite well so always a nice addition to any collection if you can find an example. ::Neil::
Wow!!!! So many!!! Once in a while a new brand appears, I know, but I couldn't imagine how many you added! There is nothing in write but it seems that after Cuareta Volcán went into bankruptcy, someone buyed the tools and started to produce lanterns and other kerosene appliances under the L107 brand and this company also used to produce the lanterns with private labels. There are minor differences but parts are usually interchangeable and it's still possible to find brand new (not NOS) generators, pumps, prickers and jets. Old Volcán stuff are better quality than the other ones. Volcán, Sol de Noche and Radiosol were produced by Cuareta.
