Hello all, winter has returned here in Shetland, the wind is blasting and driving the snow before it, in fact it looks like a white river flowing up the road. Is it the same anywhere else?
Hi Jeff East Yorkshire has been nice clear and sunny all day currently about 8 degrees but rather a nice 16 or so today. Albeit in the last few hours the wind has really got up and possible snow later.... but I doubt that. Rob
North Yorkshire was bright but cooler this morning, then the wind built up mid afternoon to quiet a blast. Calmed down a bit now.
Yup, here too, it started snowing about an hour or two ago and the temperature has dropped like a stone.
West coast of Scotland.... woke up to this... It's been snowing since early this morning sometimes really hard!
It's dazzlingly bright and sunny here in GL, although rather breezy - so I was surprised to see the remnants of some sort of solid precipitation on the (north-facing) garage roof where the sun hasn't yet reached -and won't until about June!
Thanks for the replies fellow lampers. The weather here through the night was hellish, the wind continued to blast and drive snow and hail before it and it's still blasting today, the power has been off and on again several times. I wrapped up well and ventured forth to my shed to get some paraffin/kerosene and hopefully I shall not have to be outside again today, with this type of wind it's a struggle to stay upright at times. Here are two images.
I would say that looks like winter to me, that's for sure lucky where I live we dont get that white stuff I think you call it snow.
It's worse today, it's the flying gale which is the big problem, the first image shows the snow on my window and the second image shows the ice on the garden water barrels.
Woke up in a completely white world this morning. At 7-30 it started snowing again. Normal temps for this time of year is some 15°C warmer than it is now. Last month was the warmest month of march since temp recordings began in Belgium. My early taters that just showed their first leaves last week are fully covered in snow now. Good thing I decided to wait with planting the tomatoes in the greenhouse, but I can't wait much longer, say 1 week at the most. The world (and the weather) has gone crazy!
Last week I was working in the garden in short trousers and a nice +20G temperature. Yesterday snow passed by, horizontally and like @Wim this morning all outside was white. Rough start of spring time.
The snow is getting around, thankfully the wind has eased here today, but there are still hail and snow showers every now and then.
Bit of sun there and should be good for some photography. Maybe even night time with a few lamps would be interesting with the snow reflecting back.
Strange day yesterday, bright and sunny but cold in the morning, then white with snow by late afternoon, snow stopped play at headingley yesterday at lunch time.
I'll be a bit cheeky and say, well it's reached Downunder. Today, here in Victoria, Australia, it snowed across most ski resorts and fairly close to Melbourne as well. Lit the fire for the first time this year. Last week we were still getting 33 degree days for a week. Go figure! Cold snap sees heavy snowfall in Victoria
The snow keeps coming and going here, but if the forecast is correct then the weather should start to warm up on Tuesday.
There is still some snow on the highest hills here, but it's a bit warmer and the days are sunny with blue skies.
