    Dear CPL Lovers

    Today I have purchased one
Petromax 900 "Little Baby" in online from North west part of India ( 1800 km away from home town)
Condition is very Good , I just started dismantling the lamp found inside the needle and needle rod is missing
I don't know whether I will get it or NOT
    Experts I need your advice

When I was checking in the internet. I found that this is one of the rare Model

    How rare Model is this ? 20191008_140301.jpg 20191008_162207.jpg 20191008_162317.jpg 20191008_162909.jpg 20191008_190319.jpg 20191008_190400.jpg 20191008_190335.jpg 20191008_190505.jpg 20191008_190523.jpg 20191008_190531.jpg 20191008_190548.jpg 20191008_163952.jpg

The thread of the original 900cp jet is different from the new 100cp jed. So when you wnt to change something you should change the whole vaporizer including the rod.

Your lantern is very, very, very, rare ;-)
Why does everybody want to know how rare a lantern is ? Enjoy the craftmanship and light.
All lanterns where made by the thousands.
The 900 is not that rare they turn up every now and then.

@ASHOK KUMAR , I thought brasso has ammonia in it which will in time destroy the brass.
Polish her, clean the polish off and spay some lacquer on her and she will keep her shine.

Your Little Baby is from December 1936. I have one from the same year.
A 150 cp mantle can be used. Is there a jet? If yes try to light it without needle.
It will work on a good cleaned lamp. Good luck for you.

The way I understand that the Preston loop works, it will need the rod to help divert the fuel through the loop. Otherwise the fuel will travel straight up the vaporizer and not have sufficient time to change to a gas.

I have opened and Checked the vaporizer upper part and found there is No conducting rod inside. Balance every thing is available. Please let me know whether I can alter some other bigger model conducting rod to this smaller one.

These lanterns do turn up so uncommon perhaps rather than Rare. They are often missing the pricker and sometimes the rod as well. They are a 100cp lantern and even the 150cp needle is too big and won't fit the rod. The threads are different so you can't change to a 150cp burner. I don't know if a 150 rod will fit the eccentric but if it does then it can be made to fit the generator. The pricker tip is impossible. It will run without a pricker of course but I would suggest some brass mesh packing in the generator to act as a filter. As so often with this model Petromax "nice lantern shame about the parts". ::Neil::

    Doesn't look bad !
    Well done.
I would protect the tank now with some clear laquer.

@ASHOK KUMAR , any clear laquer would do the job: keeping the air away from the brass.
A spray can would be the easiest way.

make sure the tank is clean, so no polish or whatever on the tank.
Mind you to do a test first.
