F1CAD332-4E13-4037-9978-B05ADAF5B581.jpeg I’ve given this 200C a light clean and thought it best to take some photos now. I’m fairly confident that it would run first time so I’m not going to dismantle it. I don’t think I’ll light it however as I like the design on the hood and would like to preserve it.

The pump handle is interesting and can be turned 90 degrees so it won’t then extend.

    Any guesses on its age?

More photos are in my next post...

I also have one Solex 200C., Italy .
A nice lamp, not a common find though it seems 4 have been found in 5 1/2 years

Very nice, well found. I’ve never seen one in the wild.
    Cheers

I unintentionally found a Solex ad today that while it won't give the age of your lamp, I think it does push out the era that they are thought to be from. After reading the PLC, It seems it is considered these lamps ceased in the 40's. I guess because of the war so even the early 40's.

The ad I found is from 1951. Now, that doesn't mean that some other company other than the original company wasn't responsible for resurrecting the lamp.

This ad is for both 200 & 300 CP lamps.

By studying the lamp in the add, you may be able to decide if your lamp is from this early 50's era.

    Thanks Matty.

I will do a close comparison of the advert, my lantern and the others in the gallery to see if any clues emerge.

This earlier Maxbilt ad from 1947 lists a number of lamp brands but not the Solex. That may be an indication that the Solex brand was resurrected around 1950.
