Like a lot of us I suspect, I've been indulging in lantern shenanigans to pass the time. I had a few bits and pieces knocking around so I decided now was the time to get cracking... The X246 guardsman is pretty standard stuff. I managed to finish it thanks to the Tilley globe that was in the same box as the TL120. The tank was a bit grubby but I just scrubbed it and left it as it was. The Bialaddin 305 was assembled from a diverse bunch of kit and the colour scheme is a homage to the green and cream livery of the Southern Vectis bus fleet that used to trundle round the Isle of Wight when I was a lad. It still needs a vaporiser and a globe so I'll have to see if any of my used W&B vapes can be pressed into service. I might transform my last remaining pyrex cafetier liner into a home-made globe, then I can fondly imagine it being used long ago in some bus related capacity! Oh the romance of it all!
What a great idea! ..that could open up a whole new avenue of lamp related things? ... and i never thought about cafetieres either! They are looking good, @ColinG !
Lanterns looking good, a top notch spay job on the 305. It looks like you are having fun, having to be inventive, and I'm enjoying the read! Looking forwards to seeing the 305 money shot and hearing more.
Did the kero fumes get to you? Just kidding, I think that color scheme is terrific! Hope you can find a vap for it so you can light it up! Love to see this one lit!
The old Guardsman lamps nearly light themselves! Good to see another honest old Tilley pop back into life...
Yeah, the Guardsman just worked like they usually do! The only problem is, I've now got way too many X 246 Guardsmen. I have a working W&B vape but it has the brass collar from a pre-heater tray 'welded' to the base which I need to remove. Now I've finished the Tilley, that'll be my next priority.
everything looking very cool, I like the bus too, as for most of the countries city, town etc going into either a state of lock down or isolation, I have a few lanterns at home put aside for just this occasion, nothing to hard to deal with but a satisfying project, I don't watch tv much, I like to hear music , lanterning is hours of cheap fun. I do like your lanterns
As I can't only do lantern stuff, today I made some staging for my wife's poly-tunnel out of some wood I had spare.
You’re smooth @ColinG very smooth. After building the shelving for your wife, I can see another lamp arriving. Seriously, good job. Enjoy the new lamp(s) Cheers mate Pete
While we are having show and tell, i made these today, i plan on making more, im giving one to each church in my town, i call them industrial jesus I hope you all like them.
