    Hi!

As a matter of fact it might be the case, since it seems to run OK now with a Primus gas lantern mantle that I think was a 100CP mantle.

I'll test it a bit more, but first run, appr. 20 min was OK and no smell.

    Latest report!

Used the lantern to enlight my tomato plant watering session this evening.
Worked really well. Almost no smell, and no sooted mantle now.

The Optimus 100N Preston loop and nozzle was my solution. Not possible to adjust with original parts.

Really bright with the 100CP mantle.

    Hi all!

It's a Primus gas lantern mantle. Small as heck when burned but works. Must try a 200CP mantle.

Thanks, I have spent some time on it to gett it working, the Optimus parts whas a longshot that seems to work.

Have had it running for two periods of around 30 min each. Before it started soot the mantle after som 10 mins as one described earlier in this thread.

I would guess now that the jet/vaporizer could be the root cause of the problem earlier. But the right mantle could sometimes perform 'miracles' too. Sometimes its not too easy to tell if the jet/vaporizer threaded part is slightly leaking when the lantern's hot. On others, I've experienced a hairline crack on the vaporizer only when its hot. And as we've known, a worn or an enlarged jet orifice could also be one of the possibilities. Still on others, a carboned-up vaporizer or an partially clogged jet could lead to similar symptoms.
Whatever it is, well done in sorting that out.
    @Matti Kucer
Perhaps you can now give the Santrax vaporizer a thorough check-up at a more leisurely pace:).

    Hi Willi!

Do You have any pictures showing the heat deflector ring?
I have another lantern now to try Your ideas on.

    Regards Matti

    See here...

2 variants. Top of mixing chamber or between burner and mix chamber.

Old thread, but it's such a niche question that I figured it would be best to post the question here.

I've also tried to get a Santrax rapid 150cp to work. It runs very rich. Any suggestions on where to find an appropriate nozzle? Or what measures did the biggest difference in performance?
