Could any of you with a healthy FL6 please measure the distance between the lower point on the tank bottom to the rim base, i.e. the edge the lamp stands on when in use? I would like an indication of what to look for when assessing whether the tank bttom has blown.

    Thanks in advance.

My FL6s are a bit hard to get to but I had an SL1 already out and would have to be the same.
    About 12mm on this one.

Thanks Anthony. I am not familiar with FL6's or SL1's but I would like the measurement of a later FL6. Anyone else?

Does the same apply as with other Tilley lamps.... if they wobble on a flat surface they're blown :-k

Interesting question KAB. Is bulged the same as blown?
Did the engineers at Tilley make the gap between the tank and the ground a specific distance to declare a tank blown if it wobbled?
    Very likely I think.

Thanks @Mackburner. I knew I had seen an earlier post from you about it. I went looking in the ref library but I could not find it.
It is a very sad story.
