Optimus 200P pump tube stress cracked?

    Ever seen a crack like this? I havn't.

    When fettling a Optimus 200P it was impossible to build preassure. The NRV in good working order. Found that the pump tube was cracked.

    Only on a Burmos 96 (kerosene stove) pump tube.

    Nope. Are you going to repair it? Or perhaps even make a new one?

    Brass is susceptible to age hardening. Is is possible to get brass tube of the correct diameter to replace it ?

    I'm going to try soldring it. First i'll drill two holes to stop further crack.

    I have from other lantern, but not correct diameter.

    Yes, I had a Tilley PL-53 pump which had the same problem.

    In the past I have had sucess finding seamless brass tubing at model engineering suppliers. Good luck !

    Hi again!

    Tonight I drilled two holes. Used my Dremel tool to clean the crack and finally soldered it. Next step will be to even out the surface of the tube.

    It happens. I have had two Tilley pump tubes crack like that. Not always that easy to diagnose either especially with a fixed pump. It's rare but just something to be aware of when any pump doesn't work. ::Neil::

    Yes, there was no preassure build up at all. It was when I filled water into the tank I noticed it

    And here it is, running with a mantle for the first time. Had it running Yesterday without mantle.

    Takes only 3 stroke to build preassure.
