Coleman hood re enamel

Just finished restoration work on a Coleman hood, stripped and re enamelled in green.

 

That looks really good, careful you might have to open a side business.

 

Wow, that looks perfect again. Do you know what caused the original damage? It's a strange wear pattern that doesn't seem to make sense.

No idea what caused wear pattern, I see all sorts of things I have to restore, rusted out one's are the worst as they become too thin.

 

Looks very nice...but..enamel?.. do you mean porcelain fired in a kiln?

How is it you are removing the old porcelain?

I think he uses Bar Keeper’s Friend?

Looks to be a sand or media blast removal ? Or perhaps a secret formula?

My question would be how do you manage to colour match to an old hood/ventilator ? Lots of test pieces?
There is more than a hint of alchemy about it all...hum
