Hi New member here. I have used the forum in the past to find information but have just signed up. I have recently purchased a Handi Pumpless Iron at an antiques auction. Original 1954 QC slip was in the box with it. I am going to try to get it working but really need a set of instructions to have a starting point to understand how it works and dis-assembles. If anyone has a set of instructions I would be greatly appreciative if you could scan and email them to me. Cheers! Justin
Justin I’ve sent you a message with the Handi instructions. This is a different iron, but the fundamentals will be similar. Gloria Pumpless Iron (Australia, 1936+) Cheers Tony
Justin I note that I can’t send you a message (Conversation) for some reason. Are you able to send me a “Conversation” (click on my name; go to “Conversation”. Tony @456eec
That's odd, because I can - not that I've any reason to, of course. Maybe you could try again Tony...
@456eec also checkout the general handi instructions at The Handi virtual museum - Do's and Don'ts for the Successful Operation of Petrol Appliances As the handi iron is also mentioned in those notes.
Thanks for the help and welcome. Tony I have started a conversation with you. I will study all the information and see how I go. Justin
At the same time as enquiring on here I sent a message to the Redbank Museum in Brisbane who had a poor quality photo of Handi Iron instructions on their website. This morning I got a reply from the very helpful curator named Ross. He scanned the instructions and sent them to me. I have attached them for anyone else who may need them.
What would be the best fuel for Items like this ??? with the switch to Ethanol base vehicle fuels not being equivalent for this use????
As Tony says, it's Shellite. Any vehicle fuel is contra-indicated in the original instructions and I'd say that was even more true today what with all the extra additives that are added currently...
