Hi, not sure if this is the correct area to post this. Recently saved a BiAladdin from being thrown out and decided to salvage it and have a go at a restoration. Turns out with some research its not too difficult. I think the lamp I have done is a bit of a Triggers broom but I like it and its now a permanent fixture on the patio table, who need electric lights in the garden. Since doing the first I have sourced different parts and built another in brass.
Excellent job - Well Done ! How did you achieve such a gloss on that white shade ? Hi and thank you, I wont lie its a new replacement split canopy. I am struggling to get suitable heat resistant paint for anything above the tanks for restoration hence using as much brass as I can.
@Niall Penny Hi and welcome to the forum. Two more lamps back to their intended purpose, well done and looking good. Two lamps eh? Hmm... this could lead to more. Many poor souls here have succumbed to lampitus, hope you’ve got plenty of space, they do tend to breed!
I've used radiator paint on a couple of reflectors and it has worked very well. Yes, the part that rests on the lantern hood has the potential to get very hot but the heat conducts to the relatively large surface area where it readily dissapates.
Those look absolutely stunning, good job. They really knew how to build a lamp; built like tanks they were.
